Matthew Wolterding is a multidisciplinary artist, creative director, designer, and cultural builder based in Lowell, Massachusetts. His practice spans visual art, public art, installation, fashion, creative direction, participatory experiences, and community-based arts.
Working through Heavy Souls / STUDIO HVY, his independent research and design practice established in 2017, Matthew explores the relationship between people, place, identity, nature, culture, and human connection. His work moves between personal studio practice and public-facing projects, often creating environments and experiences that invite people to reflect, participate, create, and imagine new possibilities.
Matthew is also the founder of My Beautiful Mind, an arts and wellness platform building community and strengthening well-being through creativity, culture, and human connection. Through programs, partnerships, and creative initiatives, he has worked with youth, artists, schools, nonprofits, and community organizations to expand access to creative experiences and pathways.
Across his work, Matthew approaches creativity as both an artistic practice and a tool for building stronger people, places, and communities.
