The Executive Committee of Mosaic Lowell is proud to welcome Lowell resident Jessica O’Hearn as the Director to lead the implementation of Mosaic Lowell’s Art, Culture, & Creative Economy plan for the city.
Before joining Mosaic, O’Hearn served as the Executive Director of the Brookline Arts Center. Prior to that, she served as Artistic Director and Curator of the Juliet Art Museum in Charlestown, West Virginia. O’Hearn earned her MFA at MassArt, BFA at Lesley University, and a certificate in nonprofit leadership from the University of Notre Dame.
O’Hearn had this to say about her recent appointment: “I am thrilled to join Mosaic Lowell. Lowell is an amazing community, and our home, and this plan will do so much to elevate it further. I look forward to continuing the work of listening to and learning from creatives, residents, and organizations across the city, about how Mosaic can help build on and amplify the incredible food, arts, and culture we find here.”
Mosaic Lowell unveiled its Art, Culture & Creative Economy plan this past October after completion of a two-year planning process that focused on extensive community engagement and public outreach. The plan’s implementation is supported by three-year, one million dollar commitment from The Barr Foundation, which also was the premiere sponsor of the planning initiative.
Howard Amidon, VP at the Greater Lowell Community Foundation and a Mosaic Lowell Co-Chair, added, “We’re so pleased to bring Jessica on to lead the team. Hiring the right Director to lead Mosaic Lowell was the priority following the launch of the plan and her energy and experience as an artist and organizational leader is a tremendous asset to further our work. With a team now on board, we are looking forward to the continued progress on the plan’s implementation.”
O’Hearn begins her work with Mosaic Lowell on March 27th and joins Laura Tavares who serves as Mosaic Lowell’s Administrator. Mosaic Lowell’s Art, Culture & Creative Economy Plan for the City of Lowell can be found at www.mosaiclowell.org/plan/.
